Nested in the heart of the winemaking region of Chianti Classico, Villa Mangiacane is a magnificent 15th century villa built by the Machiavelli family, bearing the unmistakable hand of the Renaissance master, Michelangelo.

Located just 12km south of Florence, Mangiacane is set within 600 acres of flourishing vineyards and olive groves. The private estate produces three award winning wines and a distinctive olive oil. The classic beauty of Mangiacane combined with its history, art, and idyllic countryside setting create the perfect backdrop for a holiday of ultimate luxury.

Mangiacane dates back to the fifteenth century and was built for the Machiavelli family with whispers that Michelangelo himself participated in the design.  In fact, because of the significance of the owners and architects, the original buildings plan for improvements are housed at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. These plans include a grander palace with a new wing, designed by Giorgio Vasari “Il Giovane” (nephew of the famous architect Giorgio Vasari).

Accommodation

At Villa Mangiacane you can expect to find a completely restored and unique five-star luxury accommodation in Tuscany.  Steeped in art, history, and culture, rooms are filled with original artwork and furniture collected from around the globe emulating the comfort of a private home.

The 28 individually designed rooms and suites offer stunning views of the countryside, gardens or vineyards.  A stay in the main villa will surround you with original Renaissance art and terraces offering sweeping views of the Tuscan landscape while our exclusive vineyard villa features private plunge pools.

Mangiacane Royal Suite

The Royal Suite offers a history and elegance, exclusive to Villa Mangiacane and is fit for any queen or king. A distinguished, superior king sized, hand-made silver matrimonial bed frame from India ornaments the suite, along with furniture and object d’art collected by the owner during his world travels.

The spectacular size of the room (approximately 1600 square feet or 150 meters), combined with high ceilings and seven expansive windows, allows for a sun filled space during the day. A fireplace and private dining area provide cozy corners to tuck into, and a magnificent bathroom with open Marble and Onyx Jacuzzi bath and luxurious walk-in shower and personal steam room, add to the elegance of the overall effect.

The Royal Suite is located in the main villa which boasts two terraces with sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside, Mangiacan’s vineyards and olive groves.

Two Bedroom Terrace Suite

Located on the top floor in Mangiacane’s main villa, the two bedroom Terrace Suite is the ideal accommodation. With two separate mezzanine style bedrooms, the suite offers two king sized beds and two private bathrooms furnished in marble to provide a comfortable and spacious retreat.

With a separate living and dining room, you will have no trouble finding a quiet spot to relax in. On your private connected terrace, enjoy a spectacular Tuscan sunset or take in the breathtaking view of the city of Florence and the Duomo

Machiavelli Suite

The Machiavelli Suite is located on the Machiavelli villa top floor of the royal wing. This opulent suite offers individually decorated style bedroom with king size bed and modern bathrooms. The suite offers a separate living area and private in room dining area.

The Terrace Suite

Offering the beauty and individual style found only at Villa Mangiacane, this opulent suite in Mangiacane’s main villa boasts a private terrace overlooking Florence and the Tuscan countryside. With a uniquely decorated bedroom, an expansive king-size bed, and crafted marble bathrooms, the Terrace Suite will meet all expectations of ideal accommodation. Along with a private living room our Terrace suite offers a private dining area both inside and outside on your secluded terrace.

The Junior Suit

The Mazzei Villa is home to the newly designed Junior Suite. Fully decorated by Ralph Krall’s signature eclectic style, this suite has a design and feel that is all its own. The individually themed bedroom, boasting a king sized bed and spacious marble bathroom, the junior suite is a perfect place to stay for a romantic weekend getaway to a week long retreat of culture, food, and sweet pleasures. The suite also offers incredible views of Villa Mangiacane’s private vineyards and olive groves along with a private garden and plunge pool.

The Delux Room

Villa Mangiacane’s deluxe rooms have been fully renovated and and individually designed by Ralph Krall’s signature eclectic style. Along with sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside and Mangiacane’s vineyards and olive groves, our rooms offer queen size beds and luxurious marble bathrooms. The deluxe rooms are a sweet and comfortable place to rest your head, enjoy the views of our vineyards and countryside, and relax into one-of-a-kind style. Deluxe rooms in the Mazzei Villa are outfitted with beautiful private gardens and plunge pools upon request.

Our chefs got the extra mile to ensure you are served the finest dishes, prepared with the finest Pesach ingredients, while never compromising on the taste. All of our meals are cooked and prepared on site in specifically dedicated kitchen.

We stock a wide selection of the finest Mevushal wines and kosher for Pesach soft drinks.

Kashrut

The entire experience is provided with strictly Glatt Kosher meals and the highest standards of Shechita and Shemura Matza only. The highest level of Kashrut will be maintained under strict, expert Rabbinical supervision through the Av Beth Din of Milan

Activities

Let your senses be ignited by the rich beauty and culture of Italy. A visit to the Ferrari museum is sure to excite all ages. For the outdoors there are cycle tours to see the city as well as hot air balloon rides to view the magnificent city from above. Among countless of other wonders this romantic city holds

Children’s Programme

No need to worry about kids ruining the serene tranquility of the luxurious Villa, kids will be entertained with daily children’s programs that are led by qualified and dynamic leaders. Some of the activities include: sports, exercise, music, drama, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, treasure hunts, storytelling and workshops.

We also offer babysitting services during meals, and throughout the evening, offering our guests quiet time to kick back and relax.

Mangiacane Synagogue

There is a synagogue on the premises where services will be held three times a day throughout Pesach. Shiurim delivered by our unbelievable Guest Rabbonim are available to attend, as well as interactive workshops, which are conducted daily by residents and guest Rabbis, lecturers and visitors.

Our Pesach program begins with check-ins at the Zimbali on Friday the 22nd of April after which there will be a grand welcoming buffet lunch. Leaving you enough time to unpack, unwind and relax before Yom Tov begins.

Whether you stay with us for the full holiday or just a couple of nights, you’ll be treated like royalty by caring, warm and experienced staff during your festive kosher vacation

Our program ends on Sunday morning May 1st after breakfast.

Mr. Desmond Lachman, former deputy director in the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Policy Development and Review Department and was active in staff formulation of IMF policies. Mr. Lachman has written extensively on the global economic crisis, the U.S. housing market bust, the U.S. dollar, and the strains in the euro area. At AEI, Mr. Lachman is focused on the global macroeconomy, global currency issues, and the multilateral lending agencies.

Rabbi Jonathan Altman is the founding Rabbi of Beit Midrash Morashsa in Sea Point. He has retired from an official community and is now in business. Rabbi Altman continues to teach in various forums including the Cape Town Torah High School, Professional beis Midrash Programme and ad hoc shiurim. He has been the Rabbi for Cape kosher Pesach Programme for 4 years

Rabbi Weinburg is a chabad shaliach leading the Hameor centre in Johannesburg and currently Rosh Kollel at the Mizrachi Kollel.

Chief Rabbi Dr. Warren Goldstein has been the chief Rabbi of South Africa since 2005 aside from being the youngest person ever appointed he has received his rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Azriel Chaim Goldfein: he additionally qualified as a dayan through the Fretz Hemda Institute in Jerusalem. He has a BA, LLB (Unisa), and PhD. in Human Rights and Constitutional Law (Wits).

The chief is best known for his innovative project starting in South Africa and has spread worldwide to, calling all Jews to celebrate and keep Shabbos once a year, The Shabbos Project.
